The Asotus MONSTER Contest! 17 Days Left

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monster Name: "Festerbug"
Approximate Size:
- Workers (female only): 6-8"
- Drones (male only): 1'-2'
- Queens: 4-8'
Dungeon Found In:
The Ruined Temple

Transparent Files:
- Worker: sta.sh/01pry0ijatri
- Drone: Pending...
- Queen: Pending...

(They do indeed have 6 walking legs, but the critter got cluttered with them all in there, so I left the opposite side ones out. ^^;)

Other Info:
- Parasitic; females of any class will lay eggs underneath the skin of
any warm-blooded creature. It only takes a matter of a couple minutes
for the insect to latch on to the host with both the 'pinchers' on the front
and the ones on the back and infest the host with anywhere from 10 to
25 tiny eggs. This incubation spot will badly fester if not treated as the
eggs mature in a matter of hours, hence the nickname Festerbug. Once
'stung', a host is semi-immune from further attempts at parasitism from
the other females, as the eggs release some sort of substance into the
host's blood stream that warns other females away, however, this substance
is not apparently strong enough until several 'implantings' have occurred.

Upon hatching, the tiny 2mil to 5 mil larve stay in the local injury area for a day
or so, feeding upon the 'diseased' flesh, after which time the larva, having
gotten a much needed head start on life, exit the host to continue growing upon
the leaf litter and refuse on the ground. The host is really no worse for the wear,
except for a large open wound that takes time to heal.

The scars left behind after such an encounter are quite remarkable.

- Swarming; this insect attacks in no less than 20 strong counting the
workers only, and no more than 60. Each swarm has no less than 2
drones, and no more than 5 to 7. No matter how large a swarm may be,
there is always only one queen.

The workers are small and weak; they are quite easy to squash with a
single hit.... a feat which is easier said than done. This buggers are fast.

The drones are larger, stronger, and pack a mean bite... as well as having
the advantage of flight. Even so, they're not quite as swift as the workers,
so hitting one would be easier.

The queen... is big, tough, and slow. And the egg, of which only one is
implanted, is many times larger. Do not let this female 'sting' you at any
cost.... the damage the larva would do to the host if the wound is not
treated would be extensive. Yet, still survivable.

- Bloodsucking; as if this mutated insect weren't bad enough already, the
main diet of this bug happens to be blood. Asotu blood, human blood... any
warm-blooded creature is fair game. Many females will tend to take a quick
snack as they lay their eggs.

Okay..... so.... you guys wanted a monster. I... made a monster. XP A very nasty
one. If it's too much, please let me know so I can tone this thing down a bit.

Ye gads though... I love this thing!

Also, yes.... I totally dropped a hint for an Asotu injury or marking in there, as I
know that the boss fights can cause permanent scarring. Thought it might be
an interesting little addition to dungeon tramping. XP

Uh creepy little insect but I really like the concept! It shows you put a lot of thought in this and I really love the idea of the scars/injuries
