It had taken the better part of a day, with all able-bodied men, women, and tokotas
to dig out the rest of those unfortunate souls who'd been buried by the avalanche, but
finally, when the day neared to a close, and the tally sheets were gone over, everyone
had been accounted for. Everyone had survived, against all odds. A miracle that.

The next morning brought about a new list of things needing done. Clearing the passes,
hauling away felled trees... that sort of thing. Hard labor, and something Wren and Muza
both were well used to.

Indeed, they worked with a good will, and worked hard. Usually alone, for that was how
they rolled. Both knew what the other needed. Wren would put her back into pulling, while
the Dire dug his claws in, braced with his shoulders, and lifted for all he was worth, pushing
the massive log or boulder out of the trail's path before Wren slacked the rope and let the
item fall. 

And they continued in the same fashion, without a break for nap or snack, until their chosen
pass was clear enough for travel.

Hard work, aye, but good, honest work. At least the snow kept them from getting too hot...
