Most of the armor consists of studded leather straps. The armor plates consist of leather surrounded by steel to keep the weight down. Under all the heavy spots, a thick fleece padding is placed between the armor and the horse to keep the horse from chaffing and also to act as a shock absorber of sorts from blows. I know the double girth thing is more western than baroque style, but in the heat of battle I wouldn't want the saddle to squirm underneath me so I added the second cinch just in case. The reins (undrawn) are between 7 and 8 ft. long; there is 2 1/2 ft. of chain at each end where they attach to the bit to keep the reins from easily being cut by blades. The rest of the rein is a padded rope, comfortable for the hands to grip for long periods of time.
