Sleepy heads....by ~TalonV

Okay....so...I finally decided to post this. Took quite a bit of courage to do it. And the pic is a bit...eh....smudgy, messy, and scribbly too. But it's sweet.

The naga's name is Derin. He's based off of a Mandarin Rat Snake. And...he's my favorite OC ever.

Derin was lost (or abandoned) by his people when he was a tiny little nagaling, no more than 10 or 11 feet long (his 'human' half was about tiny toddler size). After wondering aimlessly through the woods for a few weeks, he was found by a small child, who took him home.

Needless to say her parents weren't very happy, him being a member of a fierce, merciless race. Nonetheless they took pity on the naga child and decided to take care of him til he healed (he had been injured by some sort of wild animal).

They kept him in the barn, in a very secure stall they used for dangerous stallions. He was given food and water, and overall was well looked after.

The girl who had found him came to visit him often, and even though her parents wouldn't let her anywhere near the nagaling when they opened the stall door to feed the boy or clean his wounds, they became friends.

All mistrust of the naga boy disappeared when he saved the girl from a pack of starving wolves, breaking out of his stall when he heard her cries for help. He became a member of the family that day.

Even though he has now grown up into a very strong and huge naga, he is still very gentle and he loves his human family, and even when he was given the chance to return to his kind he chose to remain with the humans. He didn't want anything to do with the cruelty of his race.

Shown in the drawing is Derin, his 'sister' Samantha, and their little brother Samuel.
